SEVERE PIXELATION on NHL Center Ice HD channels

The FiOS self-help says I need to tighten the Co-ax feed into the STB, which I checked, and it was fine, but all my other HD channels are fine.

I paid a premium for NHL Center Ice, and the HD feeds are limited enough as it is - that's a whole other topic, so why can't the HD channels display properly?

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution?

Thanks!

Pixelation problems on only one channel are unlikely to be caused by a bad connector or cable.  The probable cause is a bad signal from the provider.  If it were several channels, it could be a Verizon issue.  But only one, my guess would be the signal from the content provider is bad.

OK, so Verizon needs to do something about this.

They don't mind taking my money, but then when the signal delivery is bad, where are they?

DON'T PASS THE BUCK, VERIZON!

Actually, the OP said all NHL Center Ice channels, not one.  They are broadcast on the same QAM channel at 66300 kHz in MPEG4, and a bad or loose coax connecter (or bad splitter) definitely can impact one QAM channel and not others.  This is a matter of physics in that different RF frequencies are impact by connection issues in a different manner due to the wavelenths involved.  So I would definitely check all connectors by removing them, checking the center connector, and then re-seating them.  If that does not solve the problem, do an STB autocorrection.  It may be that the MPEG4 decoding function is messed up.

Note that there are no reports of this issue on the other FiOS forums I monitor, and if it were wide spread, there would be lots of yellig out there.

Thanks for the insight.

Did the STB re-set this morning. I'll have another go at the connections. Game tonight in HD so I'll report back.

Thanks.

I get macro-blocking and pixelation on a wide range of channels, usually around 9pm to 10pm. It doesn't matter what channel I'm on.  I typically have to run the STB Fix routine to clear it up and it lasts for a day or two then I have to do it again.

Just get used to running the STB Fix Tool daily when its convenient and you will have less trouble.  The software is fairly primitive and unreliable.

I've done all the various fixes and checks and suggestions everyone has but the same problems continue on. I'm an IT professional with 30 years experience and currently work as a senior network engineer so I'm no novice to this technical stuff.

When you have another DVR maker that can record and play back HD content over a USB 2.0 connection to an external hard drive of any brand without any video anomalies and Verizon can't do the same over an eSata connection that may or may not work depending on the cable you use, you know there is still a ways to go on their software.

There aren't a lot of complaints because the answers to the ones who do complain are always the same and people just learn how to live with these issues.

Good Luck!

I still have major pixilation issues on only a few of the center ice HD channels.  I did reset the set top box, and double checked the connections, but to no avail.  Any other suggestions out there?
