Hello,
Yesterday when I noticed that my standard SD STB was not working and making a buzzing sound. The box is unresponsive and the entire display is lit reflecting clock/channel number info of "8888."
It seems like the electronics of the box have been damaged.
What is the best way to seek a replacement STB? And is there any cost to obtain a replacement?
Thanks,

Hi geauxricky,
Just a friendly reminder, this is a forum where users help other users.
If you are having an issue with your Verizon service, you can use the Verizon Troubleshooter to fix and report issues with your Verizon Phone, FiOS TV, or Internet Service, as well as to schedule a repair, here is the link: http://www.verizon.com/repair
You can find tools on the Verizon Residential Support page that may help you diagnose your issue: http://www22.verizon.com/residentialhelp

Hello,
If you are speaking of the Motorola 2500 set top box, it can only be swapped out for repair issues by Verizon's Technical Support for the exact same model.
Technical Support can be contacted via livechat at www.verizon.com/contactus or by calling 1-888-553-1555.
You can also try the troubleshooting steps via verizon.com/repair.
Technical Support will then mail you out a replacement standard STB free of charge.
However, if you wanted a different type of set top box (for example, a regular set top box that is HD-capable, or one that can record DVR, or a smaller digital adapter that has standard programming but with limitations), then you are either upgrading or downgrading from your standard set top box.
The monthly charge would be different from your standard STB depending on the type of box you get.
Moreover, if you have multiple HD STBs and/or a MRDVR and other HD STBs on the account, then you may be able to get the regular box (that is HD-capable) for a discounted rate.
If you wanted to see how much it would cost to get another set top box (not necessarily a standard STB), then I'd call Verizon's Customer Service to get pricing details.
Do note that the standard STB is not available for new orders by existing customers; hence, it can only be replaced for repair by Technical Support.
Hope this helps!
