I've heard about how when you get Fios the guy syncs your computer with your TV so you can see pictures and i'm guessing other stuff.  however we got Fios before they had the whole syncing your computer to your TV.  Can i do this without verizion's help or do I need to call Fios up to do this?

You need the muti-room DVR service. Its a extra $5 a month (Total 19.99 a month for DVR). Then you need the MediaManager software.

What do you mean by "unconnected"?  The DVR is connected exactly the same.  No extra cables or connections are required. But you must have the Multi-Room DVR capability activated by Verizon - they can do this with a phone call, and as previously noted, you have to download the Media Manger software and install it on your PC.  Then the DVR will communicate with your PC - the DVR via MOCA (the coax through your ONT and thereafter to your router) and the PC via ethernet to yoru router.

It does costs an extra $5/month and it does additionally offer you the capability of watching programming recorded on yoru MR-DVR on other non-DVVR STBs in your house.
