Transfer of Northwest FIOS to Frontier Communications

Does anyone know if Frontier will continue to provide landline, internet, and television service using FTTP after they purchase the assets in "rural" United States areas like Seattle and its suburbs?  I am not asking about cost but am more interested in the medium that will transport the signal.  I currently have the triple play package and I am very happy with the quality of signal I receive.   Verizon is still selling FIOS in my area (Edmonds, WA) but I would like to know before my contract expires.   Thanks for any insight you may have.

I would think that would be a question for frontier...

To me it would make sense to use the medium that is already in place... but ultimately it will be up to frontier as to what they do in the new areas they aquired..... I was not aware of them using any sort of fiber to the prem technology previously, but they may start branching out, in the future.....

Doesn't make much sense to have the fiber and not use it...What are they going to do, offer us phoneline internet hookup and satellite TV? No, they will use the assets they have in place.I think the problems will arise in new buildout areas, and all the Verizon updates, new channels , equipment that Fios will get...that's where I think Frontier will have issues

Reading more on this, I must say I am worried about this transition. I am glad my contract will be over by the time the transition will take place.

This transaction is simply too big on Frontier both in size (triple its size) as well as scope of business.

As to the question "will they continue the existing services?" - beyond the business others have pointed out, one needs to remember that this deal requires states approvals. In this case 14 different states.

I don't know what the process is but I believe those states will be demanding the continuation of those services. When Verizon started this project, Verizon made some commitments to the states and local communities which I expect will have to be honored.

All that said, I am still very worried and can only hope my state (Washington) will not approve this deal.
