I would think that would be a question for frontier...
To me it would make sense to use the medium that is already in place... but ultimately it will be up to frontier as to what they do in the new areas they aquired..... I was not aware of them using any sort of fiber to the prem technology previously, but they may start branching out, in the future.....

Reading more on this, I must say I am worried about this transition. I am glad my contract will be over by the time the transition will take place.
This transaction is simply too big on Frontier both in size (triple its size) as well as scope of business.
As to the question "will they continue the existing services?" - beyond the business others have pointed out, one needs to remember that this deal requires states approvals. In this case 14 different states.
I don't know what the process is but I believe those states will be demanding the continuation of those services. When Verizon started this project, Verizon made some commitments to the states and local communities which I expect will have to be honored.
All that said, I am still very worried and can only hope my state (Washington) will not approve this deal.
