TV / Internet Features

I have just gotten a HD TV with all the latest features. Already have Wireless Internet. Want to sign up for FIOS. What are the capabilities of these two? I want to ask for anything I might use when FIOS is installed?

Will Verizon replace my wireless router with their own at installation.  Thank you

You will need the Verizon provided router because the TV guide, “widgits” and VOD (Video on Demand) data use the internet to function and is passed to the STBs (Set Top Boxes) from the Verizon router via a protocol called ‘MoCa”.

But I’d keep my old router, plug it into one of the Verizon router’s LAN ports, set it to “bridged” mode and have 2 wireless networks to choose from increasing the wireless umbrella on the premises.

The most fun feature I think is the ability to stream photos and video from the PC to the TV. This feature is called “Home Media”, sweet!

From what I have read Video streaming using the Media Manager, is still only in Beta testing.... maybe he is a beta tester... or maybe he meant to say pictures and music

Yes streaming video is still in beta. If you have a FIOS DVR, you MAY be allowed to sign up for the trial. Funtionality and features have not been released to the public.
