Using two TIVO units, cannot transfer recording between the two, keeps losing connection

I dont know where to turn now.  Tivo can only help so much because they dont know the layout of the Verizon Fios router layout, and Verizon refuse to help me just because I mention "Tivo".  Tivo says there are a list of ports that the router needs to give access to for things to work right and Verizon refuse to help me in finding where I enter those ports or see what is already available because "its against out policy", even when I dont mention Tivo....ugh!!

So anyone out there using two Tivo units and a Verizon Fios router, are you able to transfer programs between the two easily?  I have a wired Premiere and a wireless Series 3.  I can always see the other unit between each other but most of the time when I click to view the programs, it says there are none present.  I find when I unplug and replug the wireless adapter, or restart the unit, I can see the listing.  The connection never seems to hold though because a few min after starting a transfer, it drops.  I never had this problem when I had the same wireless adapter (linksys) connected to my old Series 2 which died.  So I cant believe its something wrong with the wireless adapter.

The list of ports needed are at http://support.tivo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/402.  If this isnt the problem, what is???

If they are wireless, then it could be a simple wireless signal issue...

change the wireless signal.  you can do that in the router.   open a browser, and go to http://192.168.1.1

user name is admin.  and the password is most likely the serial number found on the service tag of your VZ router unless you changed it. Once you login succesfully, go to the top and hit wireless, then on the left basic security.   then go to option 3 which is channel  1, 6 and 11 and are the only channels you should try.

So it will likely be set to auto, change it to 11 and put the check for keep settings even after reboot (Directly under the channel) and then hit apply.  after you hit apply,  test your connection out, if you notice a difference, leave it like that until the problem happens again, and if it happens again, go back into the router, and try channel 6,     test it out.  and then finally 1 if the first two don't work.

Also take a look at page 2 of Actiontec's Wireless PDF File.  It gives you some idea's with regards to position and orientation of where the router sits and how it can best be positioned for maximum coverage.
