Wanting to add outlet on bottom floor of 2 story house

I set up an appointment with a Verizon tech to come to my house and run a new drop for a television. Unfortunately I wanted the drop in my downstairs livingroom on an interior wall and the tech said he could not do that. The access to the wall is from the attic 2 stories up and he said it required a flex tip to drill through the top plate.

So I'm looking for an electrician to come and do this as well as run a cable from the Verizon splitter. What kind of cable should be run and where can I purchase an 8-way splitter?

I live in the Dallas suburb of Garland near Richardson, anybody know of a reasonable electrician in this area?

Thanks

You will want to use RG-6 (preferrably quad-shielded).

You should have asked the Verizon tech for a splitter while he was there - he would have given you one for free.  Verizon uses PDI brand - don't know if you can get them or if they are an OEM supplier only.
