I would like to combine the video through my TV with audio running through my stereo system. The instructions from both the receiver's owner's manual and the fios manual are not very clear. Currently there's an HDMI cable running directly from the set top box to the TV. All works wonderfully. All other components in this system run through the receiver to the TV via other HDMI cables. All those work wonderfully. I though I could do the same with the fios, moving that HDMI cable from the TV to the reciever. No such luck. Any ideas?

What brand and model is your receiver? How do you connect your receiver to the TV? Generally speakiing you can connect the STB to the receiver with the HDMI cable but then your receiver would connect to the TV with its own cable.
