Are the Verizon games safe for my PC?

I'm only asking because when I have tried to download some of the games for that 7 day free trial period, I get a warning message saying that the games contain files which may be potentially harmful to my computer?

I've been through a lot of issues with my computer that took a lot of time to clean up but am I being paranoid?   I'm hesitant about trusting this.

You will get that message anytime you download files from the internet.  If you don't trust the site, do not download.  Verizon is a sight you should trust, so have fun playing the games!Smiley Very Happy

Yes, I understand that you will see that kind of warning message any time you download anything from the Internet but I just wanted to know if anyone here has had a horror story with Verizon games.  It says that the games are certified safe by McAfee which to me, means nothing because McAfee is known to be outdated with its virus definitions and is not reliable.

Verizon is on shaky ground with me when it comes to its other programs that it offers.  I trusted Verizon Internet Security Suite for a long time only to find that it did absolutely nothing for my computer leaving so many viruses undetected.  I went through a lot with my computer cleaning up viruses and fixing numerous other issues so that my PC would run smoothly again.  So I don't know what to believe.  I'm hesistant to trust the site for its games because I've been getting the feeling that it's nothing more than another cheap thow away that's going to cause problems.  I now have a reliable system in place for detecting viruses and my own routine for doing my system maintenance and I really don't want to mess this up.

Where exactly is Verizon getting its games from, another company like McAfee which offers the lowest bid and more cheap quality, i.e. another throw away item?  All of these corporate giants are so cheap that they look for any cheap excuse to rake in more profits.  So so far, I'm not really convinced that this is something I should trust.

Well, if you want horror stories, you are in the right place.  Many of the posters here are quite angry and are simply venting.  If you are willing to put your anger aside and get help, you usually do.  That has been my experience both here and with Verizon agents.  If I encounter a cranky agent, I politely hang up and dial again.

There are many good anti virus programs out there, even some free ones.  If you don't like one, try another.

I would not hesitate to get games from Verizon, though I am not really interested in the games.

As far as viruses are concerned, one is never 100% safe.  My advice:  Don't open E mail from unknown sources, be careful what you click on. and stay away from those porn sites.

Play the games, have fun, stop worrying.!  And don't pay too much attention to the horror stories you read here!!!! Smiley Wink

That's not the point.  It has nothing to do with other people's horror stories that have been posted here and this has nothing to do with getting help from a Verizon agent.  And like I said, I already have reliable virus programs that are working better and they're the free ones.

I just don't trust the games.  And mind you, there have been legitimate horror stories posted here including some from me so don't write them off.  Verizon Internet Security Suite is horrible so why should I trust these other accessory programs?

Hey, if you don't trust then, don't play them!!!  There are plenty of games out there, play what ever you want.

If you don't: like Verizon, choose another provider. Smiley Indifferent

So you're assuming that I'm just here to vent and that this isn't legitimate?  I never said I don't like Verizon and no, I don't believe every single thing that I hear but all of these providers have a ways to go when it comes to providing better customer service and earning a customer's trust in their product; and they're all out to rake in profits no matter what.  Frankly if it were up to me, I would gladly go back to having the standard 12-13 TV network stations without any cable or Fios provider but that wasn't my decision and switching providers isn't exactly feasible for me.  For the most part, Verizon provides a reliable service.  I'm not disputing that but  I'm just not convinced that Verizon's games are safe for my PC.  That's all my question has been.  And no, I'm not going to play any of those Verizon games.  I was just wondering if anyone here has had a bad experience with the games or if anyone here has played them without any problems.

And correct me if I'm wrong because I am usually very good at paying attention to detail but the fact that the warning sign says that the programs contain malicious files which could harm your computer is concerning.  I may be wrong about this but I don't think I routinely see that kind of explicit warning every time I download something from on line.  And to see that coming from a provider that is receiving plenty of my hard earned cash just for the service does not sit well with me.

You usually only get this warning for executable files (those with the .exe extention). So pictures or music or whatever else you download wouldn't give that warning. I'd be willing to bet the warning is strictly about the file type, and not anything specific to the file itself.

That being said, being cautious is almost never a bad thing.

I just don't trust it.  You're probably right about the warning and why I don't routinely see it every time I download something but I just feel like it's another cheap throw away like Verizon Internet Security Suite which was the worst thing to have for my PC.

So I am literally not playing any games.  lol

I can't make myself go along with anything that makes me uncomfortable.
