Fios was just made availble in my street. I found out because a door salesman came by and informed me. His price was lower than what I would get if I signed up online so I ordered with him. I did not know that I had two choices for phone server, Freedom Essentials and Digital Voice. He signed me up for Freeodm Essentials but I've read that it goes over traditional telephone so there is more tax than there is for Digital Voice since its VOIP. So I was wondering, can I change to Digital Voice after the installtion is done and not affect my contract/price agreement?

Short answer is no. Digital Voice runs on the network and needs to be hooked up differently than the essentials and would take another tech to come out to make the switch. It also costs more. Besides that, normally you lose any special pricing you get when you make changes to your plan.

i thought digital voice was cheaper? expecially since you pay less taxes. I went online to compare the normal prices and it is the same between digital voice and freedom essentials

I guess I should have checked before typed. I think the only way charges on the change of service would be to call and have the install changed.

Call Verizon and ask them directly. Changing your service plan can constitute early termination and incur ETFs.
