Getting No Where with Canceling Verizon Service

I order Verizon in August as means to save money. It is now October and bill has shot up $50,00 dollars. Not to mention I never got Disney Plus nor my teacher discount, I only had access to about 5 channels, and no movies like Showtime or anything else .At the time I  disconnected service (as of today)  I was paying $211.00. I complained to Verizon, many times regarding no discount, Disney plus, and the continued minus of access channels, but to no avail. Today, when I attempted to cancel service online . there was no link to do so. I decided to call.  A bot voice stated I have to call Monday as there are no specialist that work on the weekends.  I then chatted with several online customer service reps, as they for some reason kept getting disconnect during our chat.  After an hour of this I just gave up. The only thing that they could relate to me is that, " cancellation is very serious and needs to be handed with one our specialist".  First of all, if cancellation was so serious the specialist would be working on the weekends.  Secondly, since when does a private company dictate the terms of service to the customer? Why should I have to get approval to cancel service through a Verizon Specialist , where were these so called specialist when I emailed and called in my complaints.  I have already paid $ 211.00  dollars, and disconnected all their equipment and still cannot cancel service without the approval of Verizon Specialist. I am basically being held hostage to a service I no longer want.  Why is this ok in America?  Why can't I just cancel the service and be done with it.  Why is Verizon allowed to keep me as indentured servant, and allowed to keep billing me past the time of cancellation. I didn't sign a contract. According to CNN  Verizon did away with bundle contracts as of January of 2020.  What kind of fidelity does this brand what to project? How does this build customer value?  I will be contacting the FCC and Utilities Commission to see how this type consumer protocol you a vow is permissible .  CANCEL MY SERVICE.!!!

You're talking mostly to other customers here.

Verizon makes canceling difficult (too difficult, in my opinion, but that doesn't count for anything.)  You usually have to call them and speak to a "retention" person who will try to save your business.

If you download a PDF of your bill, there should be an address you can use for written communications.  That way you'll have a paper trail, should you need it later.

Verizon executive appeals may be of help here.  You can reach them through this web page:

You will have better luck during normal business hours Monday to Friday. Weekends are typically tough to call in for anything.

The other two replyers covered it pretty well. However you can call your states Public Utilities Commission or Public Service Commission or Department of Financial Security which varies by state.

they can contact Verizon and make sure your service is terminated.

what wasn’t mentioned you can go to a verizon fios corporate location (not a reseller like go wireless etc) make sure they cancel your service and that they give you a printed receipt showing the equipment returned and the serial numbers and Mac addresses if needed. Make sure it’s your proper account number, address, name etc.

DO NOT SETTLE FOR WE WILL ENTER IT LATER OR EMAIL YOU A RECEIPT.

it is a scam. Get everything from the return and cancellation then and there.
