I've read stories on this forum regarding people who have returned their equipment to Verizon, but later get billed when Verizon insists they never received the equipment back. That is not my story.
I recently contacted Verizon to swap out an old DVR that was filled with glitches. Everything went fine, polite and helpful service representative, received my new DVR in only a couple days. Six days later, I received an email thanking me for returning my equipment, and telling me that there was nothing more I needed to do. Only one small problem: I still have my old DVR sitting in my kitchen, connected and running.
While tempted to take Verizon at its word and see whether or not I get billed for keeping and running 2 DVRs, I thought better of it and contacted their service chat to let them know. Does leave me wondering a couple things:
1.) Whether or not I could have gotten away with it?
2.) If my old DVR is still sitting in my kitchen, whose DVR did they receive and credit to my account?
I'll probably never know the answers. But thought I'd share the story here anyway.
If I do have any issues with my actual return, I'll post an update.

I'd make sure to keep that email.
Plenty of people have reported that even when they have returned their equipment, they get nasty letters saying they hadn't.

Based on the amount of Verizon equipment on E-Bay, I'd have to say return tracking is lax at best. But don't count on them NOT looking for your returns.
