STD DVR

I recently got a return label to send some old equipment back to Verizon and noticed on a pamphlet the charges that would incur if the equipment was not returned as promised and noticed that on the pamphlet that one of the things listed was STD DVR....Does Verizon actually offer DVR service to people with Standard Definition TV's?  If so how does one add that to his account?  If not any particular reason why they dont?

Thanks

Quite a while back, when there was a shortage of HD DVRs available to install, Verizon did offer Motorola SD DVRs. They no longer offer SD DVRs, but of course there probably are a number of them still in customer installations.

Of course, you can attach an SD TV to any of the HD DVRs and watch and record your subscribed SD channels, plus you can watch and record your subscribed HD channels, including HDNet and HDNet Movies which have no SD equivalent - of course the HD channels are downrezzed and letterboxed, but IMO the picture from an HD channel on an SD TV is better than an SD channel.
