If I were you, I would call Verizon to cancel VISS and McAfee.  I had it for a long time and it stinks.  That program is just money down the drain and it's nothing more than the program on which Verizon can obtain the lowest bid and as a result, very cheap quality.  I had thought in all this time that I had it that my computer had no viruses but guess again.  My computer slowed down to the point where I couldn't get onto the Internet and I had to hire someone privately who cleaned out all these viruses that I never even knew I had.  Believe me, it was an expensive education that I never forgot, though I honestly didn't mind paying a professional privately to clean this up because I really was down to my last resort.

There are free virus programs that work a lot better: malwarebytes.com and avast.com.  I find that I'm much better off with those two and they indeed pick up on just about any infected files, including any Rootkit viruses.  It's a good idea to run those both once a month.  What can you get for free these days?  I know it might sound too good to be true but I know my testimony on this has been corroborated by other customers and here and by Verizion CSRs as well.  I also run the disk cleanup to clean out unnecessary temporary files and defragment the hard drive.  I run a search for any temp files because that's a lot of garbage that accumulates inevitably and lastly, I go through both of my browers (Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox): tools, Internet options, and browsing history to clean out the temp files and cookies.  It's also a good diea to go to LAN settings, connections under Internet Options to make sure that "automatically detect settings" is checked off and that proxy settings are turned off.  You may want to go there first to be sure because if proxy settings are turned on, that's a result of a virus.

I'm sorry if this doesn't answer your question.  I've been in those "loops" before and I can't remember how I would get out of them.  There may have been instructions that I could click on to stop it; or I believe you could try ctrl-alt-delete to close out the program.  I know...it's a pain in the neck.  Better yet...call tech support.  I find that tech support is very willing to do a shared session to see what is on your computer and to clean up the problem that way, at least to get you out of this McAfee install-uninstall loop.  Then if I were you, I would cancel it.
