Add a DSL line in my house

I have a roommate who just downloads stuff and watch movies all day and i cant even do my homework well, im in college and i need internet for resources all the time.
I was wondering if i can tell him to open his own line, I am owner for the current Verizon DSL line. I have verizon home phone, he does not. It is a house and wonder if that is allowed for 2 internet lines. thanks

#1 If on Dial-up, I believe you can convert to DSL.

This will depending on the wire distance between your house and the CO.

#2 If you are on DSL, I believe that you can add a second DSL line.
