DSL connection issues

We’ve always had to reboot our router/modem every couple of weeks or so. Now it doesn’t do anything and DSL service works 1 minute and is gone the next. I’m 600’ off the road and FIOS is not available out front anyway. There’s no cable run out to the road and I just keep getting the run around from the cable provider. No one offers cellular internet in my area, and satellite is expensive and limited. All I want is internet even if it is old, slow, DSL. I tried ordering a new modem from Verizon  but it said I couldn’t place the order until my account is provisioned. I’m really starting to think they’re just going to ignore DSL customers until we go away. I tried to troubleshoot on the site and app and get the message apologizing and saying that the troubleshooter was designed for FIOS.  I think I might have better luck tying a string between my modem and the line at the pole
