I bought a new router last week connected it to my PC and modem and everything was working fine. When I download something, the download speed was 50-Kbps/second which is pretty fast. The problem is download speed dropped to 25-Kbps/s . What should I do? Should I contact Verizon?

#1 Since this is a wireless router...
a) Is wireless turned on?
b) If so, what level of wireless security is it set to? WEP/WPA
#2 Is UPnP turned on in the router?

If your download speed suddenly dropped by half, you need to power off your modem for 30 seconds then restart it. If it happens more than once a day have support open a ticket on your line, you probably have a load coil someplace in your loop. Be patient, it took them 3 years to find mine.
