Frustrated with outage

Complete neighborhood has had a Verizon DSL outage for over 48 hours and tech support requires a second call in before they will look at the problem. Well, 48 hours ago I was the first and within an hour my boss' wife was second, but guess what?...the neighborhood is still out. All they'll say is it's being looked at. Really? Very frustrating...looking at switching to Comcast...the whold neighborhood is (400+ homes).

I guess some contractor didn't call 811 before they dug and hit Verizon's cable or a car crashed into a pole knocking it down. Those are the only 2 things I see happening to knock out the whole neighborhood.
