help setting up Verizon internet

I just got Verizon internet and I have some questions/potential problems I need help with.

I have a Macbook that has decided it no longer wants the ethernet jack on it to work, so the only way I can access the internet is via Wireless. I made sure and got the Verizon Wireless modem, but I just realized that I may not be able to initially set up the internet via the wireless.

I see that the modem comes with a y-cable, can I use this y-cable to initially set up the internet on my Macbook? Or, are the drivers really not available for Macs?

HELP! I need to setup my internet without using the ethernet!

I don't think you can do it without a hardwired connection. It is a security issue. It is pretty hard to keep a determined hacker off your wireless network. However it is assumed that you can provide physical security to the modem/router, i.e.. it is tough for a hacker to make a physical connection to your network without your knowledge.

So you  can:

1). get the Ethernet on your Macbook fixed

2). Buy an ethernet-USB adapter such as a Linksys USB300M USB Ethernet Adapter (Mac drivers come with the product)

3). Beg or borrow another computer that has a working Ethernet port.
