Internet Router Problems unstable connection FOR 1 WEEK

My internet connection has been unstable for about a week now. I have tried restarted the router, even unplugging it for awhile to turn it back on. The WLan light keeps blinking fast, when that happens I experience my pages won't load or the connection stops for applications I'm on. etc. I'm not sure what else I can do to fix what ever the problem is. I would appreciate your help.Thanks.

Just to confirm, what modem or gateway do you use? Is it the DSL, Internet or Wireless (WLAN) light which fast blinks?
