Hi. I just got Verizon DSL and they sent a wireless modem. Sounds okay, except that the security capabilities are too weak. I want to exchange it for a wired modem so I can run it through my own wireless router, with which I can hide the network, use WPA security, etc. Is there a local store in Southern California where I can just walk in to change routers? I'm typing this message because I've been on hold for 4.5 hours (not really on hold the whole time, I was hung up on 6 times).
#1 A wireless modem has wired ports on it, too.
#2 What is the brand and model of this wireless modem?
#3 Do you have your own wireless router?
