i have a westell 7500 router/modem. for some bizzare reason, only one of the ethernet ports works. when i plug other devices/computers into a port it doesnt transmit any data. it only transmits data to one computer. the wireless works fine.
oh and i am the resident networking/pc repair geek for my friends so dont be shy in getting technical =p

Ok. You asked for it, you got it 😉
#1 There is two different types of LAN ports.
a) uplink port
b) and a regular port.
*
If you want a picture of the uplink port look like. Sure, go to Google and type in uplink port.
On the top, you will see: "Web Images Video Maps News Shopping Gmail more".
Click on "Images"
#2 The two different types of cable to put up with:
a) One type of of cable is called a Patch (Crossover) cable. The other cable is Straight-Through
b) If you don't know what I mean, see http://www.incentre.net/incentre/frame/ethernet.html
If that link does not work, use Google Image Search (which I already gave directions on) to find pictures of what I mean.
^^
Check the type of cable and LAN port used, and please report back...
