PS3 Lags

I'm wrecking my 15 yr olds life because our internet lags while he's shooting people...nice, huh?  I was just going to move our modem and router to his room, we have one phone jack dedicated to DSL.  We only have one line coming into the house, but instead of having filters on all our other jacks, we have a splitter of somesort at the main box.  It's called 95s-1-09-1.  I studied it for a while and figured if I just changed out the wires from the line it was connected to and switched it with the line I wanted to connect it to, everything should be fine, right......wrong.  Any suggestions?

Try turning off media server\sharing in the network settings of the ps3.

Also make sure Upnp is enabled in your router if you are running one.

If these Do not fix your problem you can read up on DMZ for consoles and try that.
