How would I go about getting rid of my Westell 6100 in exchange for a Westell 7500 ? I have the 6100 hooked to a router (D-link) and I have to power cycle the router everyday to get my laptop to work. I'd rather just have the Westell 7500 Dsl modem/wireless router combo. Also, how much will Verizon charge me for the modem ?

The Westell 7500 is really no more stable... in fact may be even less stable than the 6100. I may have to wait until my 'welcome to verizon' bonus gift card arrives, and waste it on a Linksys modem/wireless combo myself

#1 In your DI-524, go to Home -> WAN
#2 Since you have PPPoE selected (most likely Dynamic PPPoE), what is the Maximum Idle Time?
#3 Is Auto-reconnect, enabled?
OR depending on the hardware version and fimware of this router, what is the Connection Mode?
Note: In your router, not in the emulator(s) listed.

I have had a Verizon supplied Westell 2200 modem for six years and it works fine for my speed of 5mbps+. I did receive a new 6100G modem from Verizon and it also works well. A recent visit from a field tech about speed problems resulted in some info about a non Verizon Westell 327W modem as being the best. He specifically mentioned ebay as a source and emphasied getting the NON Verizon version. He mentioned that the newer Verizon modems have protection circuitry which may cause some instability.

I went into the DI-524 settings and "Dynamic IP Address" was selected. I tried to change it to PPPoE and after I did I could no longer connect to the internet. After I did change it I noticed that "Auto Reconnect" was enabled and "Max Idle Time" was set at zero, but as I said I could not connect to the internet.
