Much the same occurs when using Linux is mentioned as well.   Linux- a 'clone' off of Unix which was developed in 1969; much of the backbone of the internet  and business servers run some derivative of Unix.

Not exactly a flash-in-the-pan platform to be ignored(but yet is) by Verizon.
