Westell 6100G modem works OK with XP machine, but Windows 7 machine and it starts dropping

I just got the Westell 6100G about 2 days ago from verizon.

Worked like a charm with my old Windows XP desktop.

No other routers or anything. Just the Westell plugged into my XP machine and the phone jack.

Today I get a new computer that has Windows 7 64bit. So I unplug the modem from the XP machine and plug it into my Windows 7 machine. I can get an internet connection, but every 5-20 minutes the internet connection drops. The Internet light goes red or disappears completely and the dsl light starts blinking. About 30 seconds later, the modem reconnects to the internet and away I go for another 5-20minutes.

I searched the forums for Windows 7 specific things but didn't see much.

Is Windows 7 64bit an unsupported OS to use with the Westell 6100G?

Am I **bleep**?

Regards,

Chris

Resolved it after doing some more google work.

For anyone else that was having similar problems:

I disabled IPv6 and the connection seems to be stable now on my Windows 7 64bit machine

Ah, false alarm.

The day after I started up my modem + windows 7 machine.

The DSL light starts going out again like before.

Only difference now is that after the modem drops a couple times, it seems to be OK for the next few hours (versus the every 5-30mins).

#1 Which Westell Firmware is it?

While I know that you said that you do not have another, I point to http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13600

a) At that FAQ they talk about the White and Blue

b) And about the Red and Black.

#2 Did you put the modem in  bridge mode? Please only answer my question, do not attempt at this time to put the modem into bridge mode.

#3 What software firewall is on your computer?

#4 Is the IP Address on your computer the same IP Address that is at http://whatismyip.com/ ?

Since you are on Windows 7, I believe that Windows Vista is close.

OR you could check the IP Address on your XP computer
