Westell 7500 not connecting to the internet

Hello all,

As stated in the subject line, we recently got the Westell 7500 model as our new modem.  Everything goes fine in set-up, until it gets to the final stage of connecting to the internet.  It shows the DSL link as being connected, but the Internet Status is not connected.  It also shows an up/down speed, yet when we go to connect it tries a couple of times, and gives up.  For connection type it says PPPoE, and for IP Address it says "PPP down".  The oddity about this is that our computer is DHCP-based, yet this modem doesn't seem to recognize that connection.  Furthermore, when we use the wire from the 7500 with our old Westell, everything works perfectly, which leads me to believe that the problem is in the box itself.  It also seems as if the connection is established going into our modem, but it can't go back out.  Any and all help would be appreciated. 🙂

The Westell's 7500 is supposed to automatically sense the connection type of PPPOE or DHCP. Sounds as if the software is not doing so. Try a hard reset of your router. Not just toggle it off and on, but reset the internal software.

Here is the pdf file if needed:
