I recently ordered Verizon bundle pack with Freedom Calling Plan and High Speed Internet (3.0mbps/768kbps).
The internet is working just fine.
However, the landline lacks a dialtone, even with the included filter and even if I remove the splitter and plug he phone in directly.
This is a HUGE issue as I don't want to get pro-rated on my first bill for services I didn't get to use.
Anyone have ideas?

You should have a box outside your house called a NID (network interface device). Open the NID with a screwdriver and take a working phone that does not require electricity. Plug the phone into the test port at the NID and check for dial tone. If you have dial tone the trouble is inside your house and a repair would be billable unless you have a wire maintenace plan. If you have no dial tone call Verizon repair and tell them so. There is no charge if the truoble is outside plant related.

im pretty sure the filter is a highpass filter ..... meaning that you have to plug the phone into the filter to work, and the DSL directly into the wall.
