I live in NYC and did not get any such email message as of yet.  By the time Verizon rolls it out here, it will be outdated!!

Have you tried resetting your set top box?

My DVR box started recycling at 4:08 AM . I'm in Marlborough, Ma.  Remote control doesn't seem to be able to get the Guide or Menu. I hope this means that Boston is getting cut over as I type.

My DVR was showing channels changing. I turned it on and it asked for the type of display.  It is the new IMG

We now have IMG 1.9 here in White Plains.  Looks good so far...

Ditto here on Long Island.  We got 1.9 overnight.  My initial reactions:  a)  It works, it's better and looks good; and b)  It sure isn't enough of a change to justify all the agonizing that went on here waiting for it.  Smiley Wink

We are finally live with IMG 1.9 here in RI…we just received the upgrade this morning.  I didn’t get to play with it too much yet as I had to go off to work today, but so far so good.  The guide and menus looked very nice from what I could quickly see, so I’m not sure what all the complaints were about.

I'm also in Marlboro Mass. A day or two after the upgrade, one of my older STB's, a Moto 71001, started power cycling and could not remain turned on for more than a few minutes. I ordered a replacement from tech service. Then, this morning, our multi-room DVR no longer could communicate with the other STB's in the house, and also couldn't get widgets on that box. It had an IP address of 0.0.0.0. After a long bout with tech service, it now is working. Finally later this morning my replacement STB arrived, a Moto 71002. It wouldn't activate automatically, and manual activation also failed. I spoke to a nice guy at tech support who was able to reset the box, and now it works.

I'm happy to get 1.9 and all its bells and whistles, but it's been a bumpy road getting everything working right.

It isn't good here on SI.  The display doesn't work well with the older boxes (many are still less than a year old.  It's hard to read, sluggish, only shows 90 minutes ahead, and only 4 channels at a time.  So our choices are: grin and bear it (put up with a dysfunctional guide but still pay full price); lose a day of work so I can schlep to my "nearest" FiOS store and hope I won't be charged a swapping fee; or pay to ship a new box  and return an old box that has been unnecessarily out-moded. And then we have to hope we can set it up accurately when it finally arrives or probably pay a service charge to have a tech set it up...whenever they can find the time.  It's all just poor customer service.  They should have delivered new boxes and collected the obsolete ones before forcing the upgrade, or give customers who were perfectly happy with the superior and simpler IMG the option to NOT accept. Some of us older folks (and those of us who have long commutes and would have to take time off from jobs we can't afford to lose) can't just run to the nearest Verizon place to get a newer box that will work.  Other than the IMG being useless now, the box works perfectly.  Having to change boxes just so we can have a working guide is rather like having to get rid of your perfectly good car because your EZPass velcro won't hold anymore.  FiOS has been great for the most part, but in this instance they made a poor NetFlix move.
