Warning: Business Accounts, our static IPs were changed...
Business Account, our original static IPs were taken away, forever... mistake by VZ... could not give us back the same addresses, huge hassle for our business and our clients.
This question is really: How we can avoid this from ever happening again?
On Wednesday March 7th we came into our offices to find the internet was down. OK. After about an hour we then discovered that our entire VZ Business account (FIOS 35/35) was RECREATED by an "uneducated VZ person" in Texas. Our static IPs were withdrawn and we were switched by some default to a simple DHCP account. The guy in Texas was supposedly making a small mod to the TV portion of the bundled service.
By 11am we were told that within a few hours our account would be back up and running as static, but we wouldn't get BACK THE SAME IP Addresses. Wow, does Verizon know that static IPs are critical to their business customers for a lot of reasons. How can some guy in Texas be able to wipe us off the web?
That was almost 3 weeks ago and we still have clients who are screaming at us because they have to make numerous adjustments to their corporate firewalls. Not to mention what we went thru the evening of the 7th within our own networks.
Can't Verizon protect their static IP Business customers in some better way? Static IPs should be protected like phone numbers, don't whack them unless some protective procedure has occurred. The real cost to us was literally 1000s of dollars.
HOW CAN A BUSINESS CUSTOMER OF VERIZON BE PROTECTED FROM LOSING THEIR STATIC IP ADDRESSES WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT CAUSE AND FOREVER?
We tried to call various groups at Verizon to get an answer to this question. No one seems to know. How can that be possible? Apparently our business account can be destroyed again at any time by the next "uneducated representative". Is VZ Fios really this unable to serve business clients?
If I may end by asking again, HOW CAN A BUSINESS CUSTOMER OF VERIZON BE PROTECTED FROM LOSING THEIR STATIC IP ADDRESSES WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT CAUSE AND FOREVER?
