Who I have the same questioned this topic

Alltel Touch Pro. Each days texts are a .dat file.(One correction they ARE on the phone's memory) I then backup contacts and texts, just in case I need them later using a program called PPCPimBackup. to backup what I want. (Which moves them to the SD card. )

I can  reload them and view all messages. But to choose a .dat file and try to decode it on its own, I am still looking.

This phone also allows the printing of texts via a bluetooth connected printer. Which I do not have, but have used at my daughters.
