We will be out of Verizon service area for 5 months this summer.

We will be out of Verizon service area for 5 months this summer. I plan on unlocking my phone, put Verizon on vacation, change my phone sim to the new carrier. Then when we return change the sim back and reactivate my phone on Verizon. Will this work?
