I have been warned by a very good software person to never let a tech from any cable company mess with my computer settings.  Most of these people have little training and you have no way of knowing if you have a competent one.  They will eventually get it fixed, or they will lose lots of customers.

I can always get into my mail by going to the forum and signing in there, and then going back to the home page.

I'm sorry you are having difficulty. An agent with access to your account will reach out to you directly by email, private message in the Forums and/or the billing telephone number on your Verizon account for more information or to help you resolve your issue.

I too am having the same problem with the HTTP 501 & HTTP 505 error codes, I allowed a remote from a tech, and thought he had it fixed, seen the cursor going all over the place and changed a bunch of my settings,  became very uncomfortable with the changes he was making, think I will do a restore to 4 days ago, and hopefully that will work, but if the e mail is going away will not help me in the long run, have been a long time verizon customer for wireless and home phone, but this is getting very frustrating with not being able to access my verizon account e mail. I have no problems accessing my other two e mail accounts.

I've been having the same trouble with not being able to sign into "My Verizon" home page any way I try since 12 Jan. 2012. I found if I use a search engine for verizon email, I can finally get signed into my Email account, then go to my home page. I called verizon support phone number with no help after be transfered 2 or 3 times, with not being able to understand the last person I was speaking to, they cuoldn't speak English well enough to understand, so I asked for someone who spoke English. This got me nowhere fast, so I just hung up the phone. Tried calling the next day and the automaed system said my problem was fixed & there was a long wait time to speak to anyone. I got feed up & filed a complaint online with the FCC, maybe if everyone who has this problem would contact the FCC, Verizon would fix this issue a lot quicker. Also it would let the government know that we are NOT getting the service we are paying for. Hopefully this cluster ---- will be over soon with Verizon.

I was getting the HTTP 501/505 error also. Once I deleted that microsoft update I was able to log into the email. The only problem is my computer keeps downloading the update so I keep having to delete it. I hope verizon is working on the problem.

I was wondering if you like IE9 as I didn't download it as some told me it is so different from IE8. I was told things that are at the top of IE8 are at the bottom of IE9. I would appreciate it if you would briefly describe the differences between the two, IE8 and IE9.

It appears that I have a lot of (unhappy) company.  I have the same problem with the HTTP501/505 error and am unable to access my e-mail.  I went out on a limb and let a tech control my computer.  After trying to resolve the issue, he requested permission to install Mazilla Firefox and I agreed.  It is now my browser to access my e-mail.  Am I happy?  Not entirely.  I still want to use IE as my e-mail browser and not an alternative.  Verizon owes us an apology for not informing us by phone or on the announcements on our homepage that they have a problem.  It is simply rude and I want money removed from my bill for everyday that this problem continues.  If I am not satisfied, I will start shopping for another provider.

Never let a Verizon rep take over your computer. They have ruined many people's computers and should n't be allowed to even ask to do this. Most people using a computer know more than those reps. I will never let a Verizon rep take over my computer. Verizon needs to solve the problem, which seems to be a compatiblity problem with Windows Microsoft Update: KB25885542. If you uninstall that update, many have said you can get your email, although it will be the old email page as Verizon has evidently reverted back to that email while they are working on the problem. I will not uninstall the above update as it is a very important update related to computer security. If you try one of the following links, you can get on the webmail page. You could also sign in for 2 weeksas the one update has that option. The links are:https://www.verizon.net/ssowebapp/VOLPortalLogin or http://webmail.verizon.net/signin/

We are planning on giving Verizon another week or possibly 2 to fix this and then will go back to Comcast. Luckily we signed up for a month to month contract.

As of 6:00 AM EST, the logging in to email is fixed, but still the old email page.
