The emails from Verizon regarding the change to the outgoing port are not clear regarding Outlook. It seems to imply that the port should be changed to 587 if you use gmail, hotmail, etc. Using Outlook to send. I use Outlook as my only mail client and don't use those other clients. Should I change the outgoing port to 587 in this case?

The answer plain and simple is NO
The only time you will change the port is if you use another email provider and you are using outlook, thunderbird etc.
Users who have verizon.net email and using a client program, there is no change.

I'm still confused. Jumpin68ny said "The only time you will change the port is if you use another email provider and you are using outlook, thunderbird etc..' I am using Outlook only and no other provider. Do I change or not?

You do not need to chance a thing. Delete the email from Verizon and move on with life. It does not apply to you.
