Yahoo Mail Server - Downloaded messages not deleted but moved to Trash folder

I have my Verizon email account linked to Yahoo. In the classic version of Yahoo Mail, when I download my messages to Outlook, the messages on the Yahoo mail server got deleted. In the new version, these messages are moved to the Trash folder.

Currently, Outlook is pointing to the Yahoo mail server. Do I need to point it to the Verizon mail server?

You will not need to change your mail servers if you are recieving your email.  This could be a setting in your email client (outlook) . There is a setting that you should have selected to delete your email from the yahoo server. The below option should not be selected, if you want email deleted when you download the mail from the Yahoo portal. If the below option is currently not selected then Yahoo mail may have made changes.  

please look for this option in your outlook settings and set accordingly.
