As a former cablevision customer and now a generally happy FIOS customer, there is one thing I miss. On a cablevision HD STB regardless of the chnnel you selected you would always get the HD signal. For instance if I selected channel 4 (which is a non-HD signal) I would still get the HD version of that channel. I havn't found anyhting like this on FIOS.

Verizon doenst have an option like that.
Verizon actually seperates the channels
For example TNT
channel 51 is TNT SD
channel 551 is TNT HD
basically all channels above 500 are the HD and all channels below are SD.
I think the reason they do this is for the MRDVR. With the MRDVR, if you want to be able to share the programming from HD DVR to the SD STB's, the programming must be recorded in SD not HD. So if the HD DVR went to the HD channel by default you would never be able to share the programs. So you must have a way of selecting either HD or SD. I think this is likely the easiest solution they found. Just means that for HD boxes, you stay in the channels 500+ and on SD systems you stay in the channels below 500
