We replaced an analog TV that was hooked up to our FIOS box (basic box...non DVR) with a new Westinghouse plasma. I cannot get a picture using the box but only if the cable is plugged straight into the TV. What am i doing wrong? Do i have to have a technician come out? Thank you in advance.

Which model basic box?

Which cable? Coax from Verizon or COAX from the Verizon box?

I would say if you have a newer TV than it would depend on what type of BOX you are trying to connect to it. You can contact Verizon or upgrade the Box to HD online through MyVerizon.com. I would say if you have a QIP--2500 or DCT-700 it would provide very poor performance on the HD set. Let us know what you have. It you have one of the two boxes mentioned, you could connect it to the AV input until you could get a better STB. This is a peer to peer community where customers help other customers, and Verizon participates when required. If you need assistance right away it is not their primary point of contact. You can contact tech support using one of the methods on this page. http://www22.verizon.com/content/contactus/

Verizon can ship hardware for a self instal. But a service tech visit would be a charge in most cases. Here is a page that shows all the Verizon boxes and various wiring methods. But after you use your TV with what ever basic box you have, you may wish to upgrade to a newer model. It will we shipped UPS, and the older model can be returned at a UPS store or local Verizon FiOS retail store if you have one near by.
