Why is it I had to purchase a battery for the battery back up for when electricity goes out? The phone never works when the electricity goes out anyways even if it is suppose to. The woman on the phone insisited I had to purchase one and its like I didn't want to but it was purchase it or listen to it beep every 1/2hr or so. I feel like I got robbed. My back up phone is the cell phone charge it in the car and I am all set. Then on top of it all they wouldn't give me the reward points for it even though the rewards says for equipment. The guy there says yes its equipment but no rewards giving out for that.... go figure... Oh Boy do I love Verizon....

The battery is completely optional. In order to STOP the beeping completely you can replace the Battery. Pressing the ALARM silence button will only stop the beeping for 24 hours. You can go any HOME DEPOT and get it for very cheap.
it is a 12 volt SLA battery.

I disconnected the spade terminals at the battery. That silenced it.
