Brand new Fios router keeps dropping our HP 6978 printer

Fios was just run up our road and installed in the house, Verizon is taking the copper out of service. We have been switched to a Verizon router. We have no problems with computer or phone or kindle or TV only the printer keeps getting dropped. We have to go thru the printer menu to reconnect the printer to the Verizon router. This was never a problem with the old router. Is the Verizon router still haveing the same problems I see from earlier posts? Thanks

How are you connecting the printer to the router? Wireless?

If so, you need to enable the IoT SSID on the router and connect the printer to that. This issue sounds like the wireless standard used by the printer is too old. Typically the WiFi used by the printer is two or more generations behind what a VZ router can support.

Or, forget about the wireless and connect the printer with an Ethernet cable to the router.

The printer's User's Guide (available on HP's website) is dated 2018. Most of the printer's reviews are 3-4 years old. ðŸ¤”
