Can I upgrade to a better Verizon FiOS router?

I currently have the Actiontec MI424WR Verizon FiOS Router. I believe it is one of the first that came out. I'm just curious on whether or not Verizon has any better performing or newer routers out? I just feel like my equipment, router and STB are out of date? Also, I don't believe I'm getting the speeds that I'm paying for. I know it depends on your location, traffic, etc. But I'm not even close to my 35/35 plan.

Also, are there any routers that you could buy at store that would work with FiOS? For instance could I pick a router up from Best Buy and hook it up?

You need the VZ router if you have Fios TV.  Otherwise you can use any router you like so long as your ont is provisioned for ethernet rather than coax

Did you try using the optimizer to see if it fixes that upload speed?
