I'm a long-time customer of Verizon internet. I usually asked for technician help free of charge. this time as I located a new house and could not connect the router to the internet. they send me a technician. then the bill is coming with a charge of $99 for rescheduling visit, when I called and asked it was for the technician visit and they could not waive it. it is a very expensive to charge for a free service as a customer.

Technician trips are generally not free anymore.
There is usually even a charge for installs now.
Your only recourse could be if there was an issue with their responsibility vs a cabling or other issue on the user side.
