I don't know how long this has been going on but I recently noticed I'm getting a lot of entries like this one in my Actiontec's Advanced System Log:
Cannot find cache entry for mac 00:1d:c9:93:09:e4 ret=-1
[repeated 3 times, last time on Dec 13 15:19:09 2015]
I'm not noticing any performance problems but I can't help wondering what those log entries mean. Is something amiss, or is it nothing to worry about?
If anyone has any insight, including where I might a list of what Advanced System Log file entries mean, I will appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance.

Do you know what device that MAC address is for? If it is for a device that is not on, just means that something is still trying to reach the device but the router no longer remembers it.
There has been some mention of this error before e.g. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r23300180-Cache-Entry-Crisis

That MAC address is for an iHome thermostat and it is indeed online. I can access it via an iPhone app and if I test connectivity to it with the Actiontec all 4 pings are normal.
There are lots of other similar log entries though for other MAC addresses and at least some of them are indeed offline.
I read through those two threads you linked to and while they indicate others see the same or similar log entries, I didn't see a convincing explanation of why the entries are occurring.
I would think that Actiontec would make available a list of log entries and their meaning but apparently no such luck.
