I just got FIOS, and now my laptop won't connect to the internet. My desktop connects fine. They are both wireless connections. My laptop connected to Optimum with no issues. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

Make sure you are set to obtain IP address and DNS automatically. Remove any old wireless profiles. Try temporarily disabling the firewall sometimes that causes an issue.

Try a driver update on the laptop. You can also try disabling IPv6 on the laptop, as sometimes that has been known to cause issues when the network does not have complete support for it.

Obtain IP address automatically was selected, disabling IPv6 didn't work...any other suggestions besides updating driver? Another quick note...I don't know if this will help--it says limited connectivity-which doesn't allow me to do anything.

What operating system? If you are on Win. 7/Vista check your wireless networks. I'm sure the settings are the same in Win. 8, but I've never used Win. 8.
In the past if I've had more then one listed on my home network my connection fails to work or if I'm using the same ssid on a new network it wont work.
Go to network and sharing center then click on manage wireless networks. Right click on the networks and choose remove network. Delete every connection thats listed there then reconnect to the current network. It will re-add the network with the current settings. See if that fixes it.

I think disabling the firewall helped....when I restarted the computer the internet worked. Hopefully, it is not just temporary. Thank you, everyone, for your help!
