I upgraded my Verizon Actiontec router. I tried cabling the old one from the WAN port of the old one to a LAN port on the new one, wondering if I could still use it as a wireless access point. I can connect wirelessly to the old one, but the old one is not connecting to the Internet. Are there other settings I have to change to get this to work? Is this whole idea even feasible?

You can connect from the lan port of the new one to the wan port of the old one, after you turn off dhcp on the old one. It will then work as a wap ok.
or
You could change the subnet on the old one to be another subnet e.g. 192.168.2 and then connect a lan port from the new one to the wan port of the old one. Again it will work fine as a wap, however devices connected to the new router will not be able to communicate with devices attached to the old router.

I believe you mean to say "You can connect from the lan port of the new one to the LAN port of the old one"
