Hello,
I have setup VMWare Server (free version) and installed W2k3Server in order to work through my MCSA - this will NOT be used for business purposes or anything of the sort. Now that I've installed the DNS role I have a DNS server. Before I did that I had access to the internet. However, now that it's a DNS server I don't. I'm assuming I need to set it up to use my Actiontec as the DNS so I can get access to the internet. ANyone familiar with how to make a server see the router for internet service?
I have an Actiontec MI424-WR Rev D.
I'm assuming this has nothing to do with port forwarding though?
Any help is much appreciated. I'm new to all of the internet stuff and setting up servers.
Thank you,
DNSConfused

If the PCs/server are using the 2k3 dns server than you need to put a DNS record on the dns server that tells it to rout non-domain traffic to the actiontec address. This is assuming that you have the vmware 2k3 server set up as a DC within the domain.

Also make sure that there is nothing listed in the domain suffix under TCP/IP page of the network connections. Once a PC is added to a domain it no longers needs a domain suffix to find domain machines.
