Want to upgrade router, but keep getting the runaround from CS

I have been a fios customer since it was rolled out in my area.  As such, I was given the mi424WR rev. A, router.  I have called Customer Service several times in attempt to upgrade my router to the new MI424WR Rev. E because I want the wireless N that the data sheet says it has. In my conversations with CS, I have been given various answer such as "you'll have to pay for that upgrade" and "we can't do that unless the router is broken and you will still probably be given the same one you already have." Has anyone sucessfully upgraded/exchanged their old router for the new one?

From my understanding, they go from the old to the new in all areas.  It really depends where they ship the router from or what the tech has on them.  Don't believe they can specifically say which router goes where, just like when the new 7k series set top boxes came out.  I was told they would send out the remaining boxes before the new ones would be available for replacement and that depends on the stock at the tech's office or the warehouse they mail it from.

Anyone have info on the netgear WNMR834. It says its Moca 1.1

Would that work in place of the actiontec?

Yeah, there are a few brands of routers that have moca capabilities.  But that is a good question, i mean in theory it should work fine with internet but I don't know if there is some sort of handshake that the firmware has to do with the network for the tv services.  Think it would be fun to mess around with it.

I'll see if I can't dig up any solid info on it.

I have not heard that Verizon is using or shipping Rev E.  I see that Actiontec is making it, but where do you see that Verizon is using it?  Rev D is the latest \ greatest that is shipping.

Interesting -- I have the D-Link Extreme G running over Cat 5e.  Was thinking of paying for an upgrade to the D-Link DIR 855 to run Sim. Dual Band N and have gigabit ethernet ports, plus QoS.  I wonder if this Actiontec is a way around it.  Does anyone have the Rev E?  I reviewed the pdf on this, and it was a little unclear about where it was 802.11n or not, and if it was had gigabit ethernet ports.  Can anyone give first hand info?  Thanks

We currently do not offer a Wireless N router.  There is no release date yet either.

That document does water the taste buds for what everyone wants though...gigabit ethernet and wireless N.
