What is taking so long??
Benjamindaines
5 months ago our neighborhood was dug up by Verizon contractors who laid the orange conduit tubes for the FiOS cables; however, no one has come back to put in the actual FiOS lines.  What is taking so long?!  What could possibly be slowing this down?  Actually, I really don't care why it's taking so long.  How long did it take where you live between the contractors laying the conduits and Verizon coming and putting in the FiOS lines?  Anyone have any clue when the service is available?

It probably took about 4-5 months.  I watched them dig up the neighborhood then noticed those access covers in the ground.  They put one between my neighbors on both sides of  me.  I would periodically open them up and see if anything had been done.  It took about 2-3 months until I noticed they had put gravel in the bottom of the access holes and had apparently hooked it up.  Then it was another month or so before I could see FiOS was offered via it's availability web site.

They have to get the infrastructure up before they can release it to a market. And I sure they need to have a % of the wires in place in a market before they start to offer it. They just don't offer it one street at a time.

Best way to find out is to call up verizon support and see if there is a ETA.
