Downgrading services to just one TV while under contract?

Due to "budget cuts" (lol) DH and I are looking to downgrade our TV plan to just one TV with an HD STB.  We currently have 1 multi-room DVR w/2 HD STB's and 1 digital adapter.  We would be keeping our internet and phone part of triple play the same.  Can this be done without paying an ETF and would we see any real savings?

Hello,

As a Verizon FiOS customer subscribed to a Triple Play bundle  (telephone, TV and Internet ) with a 2-year price guarantee, you can change TV and internet packages during the 2-year period and not incur an early termination fee (ETF).

If you upgrade or downgrade your TV plan and/or internet speed, though, the pricing would be different based on the combination TV/internet plans you would choose, and you can either keep the existing term or restart the 2-year term.

However, if you go from a Triple Play bundle to a Double-Play or standalone service by getting rid of one (or two) service(s) (either TV, Internet or telephone), then this would likely incur an ETF.

You can check with a Verizon Customer Service representative for:

a) pricing on a new bundle with customized TV/internet/voice plans (Triple or Double) or Stand-alone service.

The TV plans available as part of a triple-play bundle presently are FiOS TV Local, Select HD, Prime HD, Extreme HD and Ultimate HD.  The internet speeds vary depending on what is available at your location. The voice plans are either Freedom Essentials or FiOS Digital Voice.

b) the total early termination fee if you choose to downgrade to just a double-play or single service (this also depends on how long you've had the triple play service for).

If you decide to return set top boxes, then this would not affect your Triple Play bundle pricing, nor will it incur any early termination fees.

There is a separate monthly charge for the set top box(es) as each STB individually or the STBs together as part of an equipment bundle discount.  Some folks may not be paying for one or two set top boxes on their account if it is a selected new customer promotion.

Again, check with a Verizon Customer Representative for the final pricing when you return the other STBs and keep just one HD STB.  On a national level, one regular set top box that is HD-capable is $11.99 per month.  You likely have a discounted rate for your MRDVR+2 HD STBs equipment package.

To contact Verizon's Customer Service Dept, you can try:

You can also make updates online to your account via verizon.com and be able to check the pricing there.

Hope this helps!
