FIOS Dropping Bridge TV

This morning I received an e-mail from FIOS TV informing subscribers that Bridges TV would be discontinued from their line-up.  My understanding is that this channel's focus is on countering negative stereotypes of Muslims in the media - an effort I support. Although I am not Muslim, I do know that there is a growing and vital Muslim community here in Columbia, MD - so I just cannot believe that low viewership is the true reason FIOS is discontinuing Bridges TV from your line-up (especially in light of some of the other channels that you feature).  Before I reconsider my subscription I'd like to give you the opportunity to enlighten me about your decision. Has Bridges TV aired offensive programming?  Are you being pressured by other subscribers? I truly hope that you take a minute to respond to this inquiry as your decision leaves me quite troubled and I have otherwise had a largely positive experience with FIOS TV.

Thank you.

I AM IN COMPLETE AGREEMENT WITH THE GENTLEMENT.

With a little luck, perhaps Verizon and other corporations who are in bed with the

government will be sued.  Of course with justices like Scalia and Thomas sitting

on the Supreme Court, a favorable lower court decision would in all likelyhood be

overturned.

I completely upset. If they drop Bridges TV and Funimation I will soon drop Verizon.

Verizon seems to play hardball with the less watched inpedendent channels like this. They threatened to pull RFD TV like this last year, but the sides came to an agreement before it was ever dropped. If Verizon drops Bridges TV, it would mean at least 90% of Bridges' distribution. I think Bridges will make an effort to come to an agreement in order to stay on their largest distributor.

Honestly, I could not care less they are dropping this channel. How many people actually watched it to begin with? Sorry but I don't buy your accusation that is was dropped because Verizon was "pressured" to do so. I am NOT anti-muslim and have muslim friends. I'm sure that Verizon is not sweating the half dozen or so subscribers who may actually leave because it is no longer offered.

Why do people turn a marketing/financial issue into some political story. Verizon is in the business to make money, aka capitalism. The channel makes no money for them thus they want to bring in a channel that will. Its a win win for the customers as it might help to keep rates down if Verizon can make a higher profit with another channel.

slightly OT,

Probably for the same reason they turn a purely scientific issue like global warming into a political one. Vested self-interest.
